The port of Cagliari is in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea in a position that places him as a key strategic and commercial hub for over 2500 years. Founded by the Phoenicians, Carthaginians launched and flourished with the Romans, the Port of Cagliari has maintained since his principrio to know how to develop and continuously improve. This wealth of experience and tradition is now led by the Port Authority, which develops and promotes activities focusing on quality, integrity and innovation.
The territorial jurisdiction of the Port Authority of Cagliari runs for about 30 km of coastline.
The Port of Cagliari has the following functions:
- commercial or historical conventional goods, bulk and Ro Ro
- industrial port channel, recently launched, for containerized cargo destined for transshipment and the Ro Ro
- Industrial liquid bulk cargo, and carried Assemini Sarroch, Porto Foxi, where are handled some 26 million tons per year;
- passenger service in the historic port, the loading bay of Via Roma, Pier Health, declined S. Augustin, Savoy pier, west bank declined;
- fishing activities in the port town, the brush of S. Elmo, declined to dock and dropped Azuni;
- function tourist and yachting in the historic port, the dock and pier Ichnusa Savoy, and brush with decreased Fair St. Elmo.
